Our strange debate over legalization

Our country seems fairly keen right now on the debate over legalization of marijuana, yet media and commentary is focused on everything EXCEPT the most important factor to consider: thousands of innocent people are dying in the Mexican war with drug cartels whose greatest resources (cash and guns) derive from moving marijuana into the United States.

It’s been pretty well shown that legalization removes the incentive for activities and organizations that jeopardize or compromise the innocent.

I’ve not seen statistics on deaths from marijuana use, but the statistics on deaths of innocent bystanders in the drug wars are staggering.  I’d guess the former are not significant enough to report?  Hmmmm…

Are we really a nation that stands for life and protection of the innocent?
